I am going to try to bale it. Does anyone know how long it takes a cottonwood or willow to dry? Some how this is leaving the field either in bales or smoke
The bottom of the trunk holds most of the moisture. I have cut it high to get the drier, thinner stem parts in the bale and the trunks hold it up off the ground to dry. Then went back with the rotary mower to grind up the little stumps left behind.
Its gonna look pretty crispy before its dried down enough. I have done it a couple times on one spot over the years and left it lay a week in a windrow. |
