Southeast WI | Here in our area we started out dust dry after winter. Fortunately got 4.8" in April and then roughly 3" in May, June and July. Last rain until a week ago today was July 12th. Since last Friday we've had 2.4". The pic here sums it up pretty well. The two good ears are from black ground, typically 180 BPA field, strip tilled corn on corn with a Dawn Pluribus. Nosed back ears are on lighter ground, also strip tilled corn on corn. Most lighter loams and sandy loams have nosed back severely with 1.5-2.5" abortion common. Yields will still be respectable and I'm not upset as its been very dry all season. Corn health except for the worst soils is still decent.
