The pyrethroids are hard on the beneficial insects and you get MAYBE 50% control of the aphids. We applied transform to some fields starting a little over two weeks ago, and there were aphids starting back in about 12 days. From the meeting Wednesday at Garden Plain we maybe were a little early on the first field. They are now saying 20-30% of the plants with a pretty heavy infestation/coating on a couple of leaves. To me that looks like too much. But the beneficial insects seem to be building, so maybe we need to give them a little time. If we have to spray again (maybe on the double crop, I don't think so on the full season, unless the begin to move to the head), we will probably use Sivanto, unless it it too close to harvest. Sivanto is 21 day PHI and Transform is 14.

If you have headworms needing sprayed, you need to think about the chemicals. We have been using Belt. More expensive, but also supposed to be safe on the beneficial insects.
