Looks bad, doesn't really affect so much unless its thick. Some years it helps the beans feed in more even.
You can hit it with something, but its already there 3 feet high, it really won't go away at this point by harvest?

but I thought it might dry down a little over the next month if I killed it. make it easier to harvest
