West Central Iowa | Had a field sprayed early yesterday morning with Battalion (generic capture) and about 12 hours later got about a half inch of rain. I have read the rainfastness is 2-6 hours and that pyrethroids are absorbed much more by the plants than organophosphates and are less likely to wash off. Capture is a pyrethroid and in the past we have sprayed with a generic lorsban, which is an organophosphate. I got talked into the battalion because of the longer residual. Lorsban always provided a very quick kill but lacked residual. The field was on the schedule to be sprayed the day before but the wind didn't cooperate. I'm not familiar with how quickly or just how the pyrethroids kill the aphids. Was the Batallion on long enough before the rain to get the job done?
