SE IL and SW IN | I would usually agree with you, but since Zachary wants to spread manure all fall long, I would encourage planting soon, knowing that he will lose radishes that are driven on and busted.
For Zachary: There is lots of hype touting the short term benefits of a program like you describe. Please understand that there is a learning curve here that does not automatically translate to immediate returns. Erosion control is immediate, but nutrient scavenging and soil health building are harder to predict and measure the actual return. (I will have 1500+ acres of cover this fal , and have had similar acreage for 10+ years, and know it works for me "here" but encourage you to be cautious about your expectations until you get a handle on your unique program.)
