Central IL | When I was a kid, my grandpa cleared quite a bit of big timber with just a Deere 450 dozer. There was quite a bit of sticks left from that way of clearing. Luckily he had quite a few grandkids. We pulled rack wagons, around all summer and loaded them and unloaded by hand. Not efficient but he had cheap help. We now use excavator/dozer combo to clear. Very little sticks left. What is a disk usually cuts up enough it is ok to farm and in a year or 2 most will be rotten and bust up with tillage. Like has been said, there is always a few sticks to pick up after clearing. Usually good to get a break and get out of tractor and walk around a little anyway. | |
