Harvestable ears ~ 27500

Rows~16.75

Kernels long~ 38.5

Expecting good kernel depth and test weight.

The decimal #'s come from adding several ears together and dividing by the # of ears.

The #'s I am using above come from quite a few other ears I collected.

(27500*16.75*38.5)/80,000 = 221.68 bu/ac

Now throw in the variables and we go anywhere from 250 down to 180.  I am expecting an average of 190+.  There are several acres that will make 0 because of wet.  Silks coming out on 3' tall plants with no pollen coming.  Terrace channels will take a hit so I just don't know where it will land.

New topic- how many pods can you expect from the blooms on a soybean plant on average?  I have counted 170 and 150 actual blooms on a couple plants.  The pods are just starting to show and I can tell a lot of the blooms will not become pods.  Just looking for some average guesses for # of pods.

Edited to add comment about other ears included in average kernel count.
