NC Indiana | Beans were planted (mistakenly) at cropping rate on part of the field and planned rate of 20#/ac on the rest, then corn was planted into the field. Both are RR traited. This is our second attempt working with beans and corn together. 90k population was the sweet spot last time, per the yield monitor. Both sites are not irrigated. March seed crimson clover with corn planted into it in May has looked great all year as well. Guess we'll see come harvest. Soil moisture conditions have change night and day over the last 7 day. I pulled 12" soil samples last week on a plot site (N testing) and pushing the probe in the ground was almost dangerous bc of the lack of resistance and soil moisture. Yesterday I destroyed a probe end 1/2 way through the same plot (with in feet of the last weeks holes) trying to pull 8" samples for biologic testing. | |
