Your agronomist from the seed company needs to do some more research. Instinct helps with nitrification but does nothing for volitilization. A lot of pale green water-logged corn is from lack of oxygen for the roots. Instinct may actually keep the N around in the soil but if you get 20" of rain the drowining roots won't be capable of taking the N in anyway. Over the years I've used Agrotain, Agrotain Plus, Nutrisphere, SuperU, Instinct, and ESN. I think that most of them can give you a positive ROI if averaged over a number of years. The only exception is Nutrisphere. Based on 95% of the research out there it appears that Nutrisphere is worthless.
