Subject: Pricing haylage

SW WI
A neighbor might have some extra 3rd crop of good alfalfa for sale. I'm thinking about talking with him about trying to make a deal on it. He let me know that the larger dairies around here are not interested, they have a good crop themselves.

The deal I'm thinking of proposing is this: he cuts, chops, and puts it in a bag. We could then estimate the tons in a bag. Were would you be on a price for that? I can buy dry big squares of 18% protein, 145 rfv delivered for $145/ton. I obviously don't know what the 3rd crop will test to try to be comparable.

I don't know what is a reasonable price, I usually just deal with dry hay but would like to try a little haulage in my ration if the opportunity works out. Thanks
