North Central Iowa | We've got a quarter section that's under a center pivot. We pump out of a lagoon for our irrigation. This field has been continuous corn for a long time. Our potash levels have always been high, so we've been baling the cornstalks off of it every year for the past 5 years. Next spring we're considering seeding it to alfalfa, and I'm wondering if we should leave the cornstalks on it this fall, instead of baling it. What are your thoughts? Also would like some input on straight seeding the alfalfa vs. putting in oats for a nurse crop. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! | |
