North Central Alberta, AB | I was still using your 100 bus + $100 or $500 in your example. Based on a few of your previous posts, you are selling cattle at much higher weights than 1200 normally. I assumed (bad to do) that the addtional 100 lbs would be from better daily gain gain or efficiencies, and still work with your numbers above. But like Beefbiz said, it would still cost less than $135 to put on those 100 lbs.
Nothing wrong with your calculation process to ensure you have $$ left over at the end. The extra gain is your extra margin.
Similar to some Corporate lots factoring in a $100 profit on each animal right into the breakeven, so even if they are going out "below breakeven", they still have some profit as long as it isn't more than a $100 loss... |
