Why couldn't a lot of that ground be drained with open ditches? Sure looks to me as if it could. Or would it cut the land up into small odd shaped fields that many would say are to inconvenient to farm? In a year with "normal" rainfall do those areas now holding water present no problems? In a dry year do those lower areas have moisture and produce great?
