Oh yes! Wheat on sod "here" is a really bad mistake, even if you plow it and beat on it all summer. My experience was what looked like a very nice stand coming out of winter that developed into a picture perfect stand in the spring that became a badly lodged, empty headed crop at harvest that summer. Oh, it was also part of my first try at intensely managed wheat!
