See the previous posts on strip intercropping posted by Jacob. Outside rows of corn may be planted at 1.5 to even 2x of interior population. Bob Recker helped us plant a SI plot a few years ago in 8 row sets. The outsides did fabulous for planing about June 1. Haven't tried it again as our equipment isn't set up for the ideal 4 row configurations.
