Subject: Building a White 5100 Splitter planter

I have been thinking of building a splitter planter to plant soybeans with. I have seen some white 5100 8 and 12 row planters sell quite reasonably.

Has anyone ever cut one apart and made with a 6x5 or 4x3 out of a folding planter? Can it be done? How hard was it? Most of my ground is flat to mostly flat. How did you attach the rear units to the front? Were there any major problems to overcome?

I would like to make the rear units quick detachable. No till and fertilizer would be nice but I only really need fertilizer on the corn rows and no-till on all would be awesome, but also not needed.

Pictures would be awesome.
