Jerseyville,IL | When it floods normally you can see its destroyed ,but when it is over saturation of soils you still have a plant but
it may or may not die , It just lingers on half dead as opposed to a drought where it burns up and its usually pretty even across a field.
With saturation it will make a crop just not the one that it appears it should , for every 1 acre drowned out spot you get 5 acre or more reduced
yield area. The big question is how much reduction .
I have seen fields this year that are pattern tiled look a lot like the one next door with limited tile, both look about the same condition.
The tile will only carry it a way so fast .
It appears that the whole world is having crop problems from what I read and see ,in both the northern and southern hemispheres .
Although I have seen many droughts and floods this years seems to be worse than many from the past crop years.
Just what I see

Many of the farm reporters are still stuck on 'flooded' acres. This event is so much more than drowned out acres and unplanted beans. |
