I know some numbers about what other crops use, but will refrain from sharing them. We don't need to attack ourselves. Almonds use water. Some crops use more. Some use less. What isn't talked about is most of the water is farmer owned or developed. San Francisco doesn't reclam one gallon of water, either. Those in the city expect to turn their tap on and water flow. Those of us in Ag expect to develop our water source before we plant a crop, not just expect it to flow. Growing food takes water. I would rather eat our food than imported food. The American farmer is far more efficient with his water use than many other countries '
