Had an 01 f150 die one night while shining the head lights on a equipment tire I was replacing. It just came to a screeching halt. Starter could not turn it over. Pulled it home and got to thinking of the a/c compressor that had been sounding bad. Pulled the belt off and it fired right up. Not saying that's your problem because driving, there would likely be enough power to just slip the belt but maybe.
