Driftless SW Wisconsin

Big Square - 7/1/2015 22:30 I have a 16' swather, laying in a 4-5' windrow. How big a tedder do I need? I have a couple 17' 4 basket ones, not that impressed. If I bought a 28 or 33' one would I need to ted twice to get it laid out nicely in 3-4 ton acre grass hay? I'll take brand suggestions too. Do 1-2 companies make most all of them like rakes? Tia

A 16 ft swather less a 5 ft windrow leaves 11 ft between windrows to drive without running on two windrows. Outside to outside your windrows will be approx 16 + 5 ft = 21 ft.

Taking 2 windrows with a tractor under 11 ft outside the tires and a tedder that is maybe 23-25 ft outside to outside would work nicely.  Tedding goes so quickly, especially in grass hay, I don't think there is the need for a much larger, more complex, more expensive machine unless you have a lot of ground.  Take a look at a Krone.
