IF wheat is contaminated with vomitoxin, that should make no difference in carryover for seed for next year should it ?
Hmmm is VOM and FHB transmitted from the seed? Good question and one that I've asked before too. I don't think anyone knows the real answer and if they do they might not be telling the truth. The answer I got from an expert was always use certified seed. I've always been meaning to test the certified seed for VOM but I never have.
Two years ago I did a side by side trial with my untreated bin run 25r51 and some certified and treated 25r34. I tested my bin run for VOM and there was none detected. The certified, treated 25r34 showed much better vigor at green up but I can't say of that was the variety or the treatment. Unfortunately I had to kill the stand and plant beans due to wet weather so I can't say how it turned out.
FWIW, my neighbor grows 100 bu gr 2 and gr 3 wheat from bin run but not sure of he tests it for VOM. I doubt it.
