I have cultivated with ridge till cultivators for years and am currently running a B & H 9100. The 16" sweep at the center runs about 3-4" deep and weeding discs next to the row run at 1-1 1/2" deep.

It's very difficult (actually impossible) to take out weeds and at the same go through large amounts of residue with a cultivator set at a 1" depth.
