Subject: RE: Grass in conventional beans

De Forest, WI
Poast does not work anywhere near as well as select. Poast seems to have a higher fudge factor for older or worn spray equipment. Select works VERY well as long as it has a proper crop oil and some AMS added. It takes down foot tall grass within two weeks (Not that I have much of that, but it kills it at outer edges of the field). Depending on how tall the beans are and how tall the grass is you could try burying it with a cultivator. I learned there are two ways to kill weeds with machines, pull them out or bury them. When they are very little both work. When then are taller, burying works better. Last pass with cultivator through corn I usually put 3-4 inches of soil thrown right in the row. Covers almost anything if you offset c shanks so one throws first then the other side throws later. First side tips the weeds/grass over and the other side burys it.

You can do the same with beans, but it depends how tall they are.
