Iowa | We used to run all 4 inch laterals 30 feet apart about 36 inches deep, switched to 3 inch 3 years ago now running the same depth and spacing and can't tell any difference. If we have good grade we hook everything into 6 inch mains because we can't put any bigger in ourselves. If you are running bigger mains that can carry the excess water that a 4 inch will carry over 3 inch you might be better off. For us the 3 inch works just as good since the main is usually the limiting factor and we generally have enough fall that we don't have to worry about the 3 inch plugging
