I fully understand that crop insurance is subsidized. So are a lot of other markets through one way or the other but that is another topic. Prevent plant is a tool we have available right now and if it makes sense to use it economically then no one should be discredited for doing the sound business decision.

Now mega farm operations being too large and not capable of planting all that high dollar rented ground that is also another story, but most of the posters talking about flooding don't fit in that category from what I can tell. I am a young farmer and completely agree that it would be nice to see more young farmers be able to make it on their own.
