Coldwater, Michigan | Many seed companies over the years have done just that. It appears to be the same hybrid at times, other times not. I remember when I was with Sohigro years ago that many seed companies were surprised that we chose the inbreds crossed the way they were for Sohigro 39. Crossed they way they later were for Sohigro 38 was much easier to accomplish and for many it was essentially the same hybrid.
I remember during the late 70's early 80's a major seed company had an early hybrid that was on fire. It would out yield anything out there. After a couple of years the tassel color changed and the hybrid was only competitive after that.
