Kingston,Mi | Neighbor and I became experts at pulling and fixing the transmission in a early 7700 (as in first 150 units), detach after marking the shift cables, brakes etc. Then remove the couplers to the axle drive shafts, remove drive belt and place a transmission jack under the trans/clutch assembly the remove the 4 bolts that hold the unit to the axle tube. We used a 14 inch car wheel (no tire) on top of a 2 ton jack instead of a transmission jack (we're cheap)under the trans. Probably forgot a few cables, steel lines etc. Unit is not that heavy (relative)and moved okay on a sheet of plywood in a shed with a dirt floor, the 2 of us could then lift unit into the pickup box.
I would not be afraid to tackle this job if I were younger (when we doing this all to often) we were in our 30's. | |
