Before horse slaughter was band we had the same thing here with the I feel the pain stuff. Lady had people making donations and those that left their horses at the refuge paid money for her to take them. Kicker was the same number of horses were always there no matter how many were dropped off. She had a trailer load at slaughter each week. Money making deal funded by idiots.


Kid I went to college with had a similar racket. His folks owned a little place outside of town with a few acres of pasture. He always kept a goat, sheep, horse or two out in front of his "animal sanctuary". He advertised all over town, was a town with a lot of horsey types who always had more horses than they had $$$ to keep. People would bring him rabbits, cows, sheep, horses, goats, etc to let them live out their days at a "good home". Which he did. Until every Saturday when he'd haul everything down to the sale yard...
