Too late to help you on this problem, but for future reference...first thing to try is to change your needle to a new needle. A small burr on the needle might not keep you from sewing regular material, but elastic is thick and hard to sew through anyway. A burr on the needle would make it even harder. Might want to change to a larger size needle too. Clean fuzz and junk out of bobbin area too.
