Subject: math question/ opinion on a couple feeeders

East central Wisconsin
So a friend of mine shows up today with a group of holstein feeders (9) that he bought at a sale for someone and they backed out on him. They weigh 325 apiece and he's got 2.47 a pound in them. They are average looking , good but not fancy. Im holding them for him for a week till he finds them a proper home. He asked me to take them but man, that just seems too high to come out of. Am I wrong with my thinking? If I raise them to 1400,@ 3 lbs a day of gain, thats 359 days @ 2.68 ish a day. thats 960.00 cost to grow them plus the 815.00 a piece purchase price. 1775 total. thats 1.27 to break pretty much even. Holsteins gonna be worth at least a buck thirty in a year from now? I told him i'd think about it. So, major stupid idea or not bad?? I'm a little rusty! ( using 2.68 due to the fact will be feeding them for their final gain in cold dec- march, so extra groceries and bedding) Maybe I.m even short at that number.
