Subject: RE: maggots on calf

Central Alberta
Maggots dont eat dead tissue. They eat the bacteria that are eating and killing the tissue (infection of some kind). Treat the infection not the maggots. Believe it or not but the maggots can be keeping the infected animal alive by keeping the infection under control. There have been cases where both people and animals have been covered in maggots. Someone removed all the maggots and a day or two later they died. Happen to myself with a calf once.

Again treat the infection not the maggots.
