Also this grass that is being seeding will become an established hay and silage field that we will take a crop off 3 times this year and 4-5 times for the next 3-4 seasons. So we take the time and fuel now to do it right.
Weeds and invasive grasses are another reason we like to plow instead of chisel plow or rip then disk.
Here is a pic of a section of a corn field that was chopped last September and left bare. The weeds just take over due to our mild winter.
