Subject: grass seed type for new barnlot

20 Miles West of Indianapolis Indiana

i have about 3 acres i'm planning to seed to grass for my grain bin site for now. this will eventually become a barnlot.
I'd like to spread some grass seed and get something growing so it doesn't grow up in weeds. its in standing stalks right now and i'd really like to just topdress the seed, even if i have to spread quite a bit more. i'd like to keep from making it a muddy mess when we are working on building the bins this summer.

is their a type of grass seed that would be more hardy and a good idea for this situation? i'd like to say it will get finish mowed eventually, but i don't know how ambitious i'll get down the road...
