Some are models of efficiency and good management. Others maybe not so much.

Do not operate anything without a beacon.

Original equipment manufacturers must perform more repairs under warranty than performed by farm in shop.

Service trucks sometimes identified by the <8 cfm compressor and the leads for the welder are be missing. Service trucks also may not carry any filters, parts or hardware. (Cordless tool kit ok if it includes a saw for dimensional lumber AND the truck has graphics on the side- farm graphics being the key).

Ability to purchase new equipment on a MUD program for less than the retail sale value of the (now used) equipment 12 months after purchase.

½ of the technology available on the new equipment may not be utilized.

Every now and then the operation may forget to plant, spray or till a field because it was not on the office wall map.

Do not know the names of all employees because turnover might be high. Or they just got lost and they are still out there, somewhere…

Ability to sell and deliver commodities directly to ports or foreign customers.

Economies of scale and access to capital mean opportunities to take advantage of situations that smaller operations might not be able to capture.

3rd generation may often conduct themselves with an irrational sense of confidence.
