Wallis, TX | I said I wasn't going to complain about getting rain until I was late planting corn. Well,,,,,, we're 3 weeks into corn planting and probably less than half the corn is planted in my area, personally 2/3 finished. 3-7" last rain event, and tonight weatherman forecast showers tomorrow and Thursday. May not get up the acres I have planted, some is still under water and all is totally saturated to the point the ground is mush. I don't know of anyone who got everything planted they intended to plant. Some are just going to switch to milo, with the good basis it makes sense to do that. Others may put those cotton acres back, but with the falling prices the last week IDK. Beans aren't a great option for us, too easy to get a dry spell that really hurts yields. There is a reason the county bean average is 22-25 bu in these parts. Gonna get interesting the next few weeks.
