| Seems to me there are more bulls out there than there are cows! I literally could go to multiple bull sales every freakin day. I know some that do, more so for the free lunches than anything.
But I understand why, it's always something with those bastards. Broken peckers, broken legs, or just get ornery than a grumpy old man and you can't work with em or Get to big to breed heifers. So that usually leaves me in the market to find something every year.
And like everyone else, with high calf prices and good profits, it's time to reinvest some of that in hopefully better genetics and move forward. A decade ago I had a hard time pulling the trigger on a 3k good bull when I was clearing $100 or less per calf. Lot easier now spending 6k on a good bull when your clearing 600+ per calf. | |
