diagram is good but too many variable to say for sure without being there to test it. most cases black would be power in and each of the colours are for the variable speed, sometimes its just one wire for each speed, sometimes its one wire for low, 2 together for med, and 3 together for high. I would highly doubt that it will still operate without the circuit board but it is worth trying.
