Subject: RE: Farm Bill Question(s)

Southeast Colorado
PLC and ARC have different prices. ARC is based off of a 5 year rolling average. PLC is a fixed (lower than the current ARC) price. You will be paid on your base acres if either your county yield or price triggers a payment. You are paid on your base acres and not on what you plant. Updated yields and base will only apply to this program if you choose PLC............however since no one knows the future when it comes to farm programs........it is usually best to always update yields when possible. If you do nothing I believe that (assuming your farm has some base acres now) you will carry them forward and automatically be enrolled in PLC. However you will forfeit any 2014 crop year payment if triggered which will be payed in October of this year. If your farm has NO base acres now, then there is no reason to go sign anything.
