| Well I have the online book but haven't read it yet, and probably won't, so I can only speak about the movie as it stands. I found it slow and boring, really not worth watching. As for "porn", it's really not, it contains only some mild eroticism. I guess it can be called erotic only because it shows some soft S&M, like bondage and whipping. I think you see the man's ass only once in the whole movie, that's about it. It's really just about the relationship between this man and this woman, no other characters or other side stories building up interest. The man is totally unbelievable, a millionaire businessman piloting helicopters and playing the piano like a virtuoso, stocking a dozen of Italian and English luxury sports cars in his garage, probably one for each day of the week...
I guess it's telling that the book's writer is a British woman, Christian Grey is probably her James Bond. How sales of her trilogy beat the whole Harry Potter series I have no idea. Not sure why someone compared the movie to Brokeback Mountains either, which was so much nicer and had a real (love) story. | |
