Subject: RE: sauna for the home?

Kingston,Mi
If you lived in the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, owning property to build on and not building a Sauna first (whether you ever build anything else is irrelevant) is considered enough evidence of possible mental instability to put you local watch list. My younger brothers moved up to Houghton/Hancock 14 or 15 years ago and bought a small farm to build a couple of houses on. The first question the Finns they worked with ask when they found out they were going to buy this farm west of downtown Oskar was "Did you build your sauna and how big is it?" When Chris said they were planning on getting the house and garage done on each house site first before moving on to possibly building a Sauna, the Finns and all the other want-to-be Finns, removed their hats, lowered their heads and made circling motions while pointing at their heads as they slowly walked away.

Chris nearly done with his house and garage and still hasn't built a sauna, the neighbors consider this strange but are starting to accept this as yet another manifestation of having been raised a "Troll" (yooper speak for born and raised below the Bridge).

Edit: correct the spelling of the crossroads of Oskar from misspelled Oscur.
