How about an Ipad or computer and introduce her to this site, pinterest and some others. The world is at her fingertips to learn and explore all from the comfort of home. Lectures, interviews, opinions, documentaries it's all out there plus keeping in contact with friends and family. 

Many devices come with card games, word games etc. that can be played against the machine or with people online. At one time you could join in with others to play word and card games etc through Yahoo messenger you could also use a microphone and headset to talk through messenger with others online.

She could even play cards or games with those she knows just electronically.

Just be sure to educate her about the scams and dangers of posting too much personal info and of course clicking on everything that pops up.

Any of that will keep her mind busy and occupied. If you can get her over the hurdle of learning to use the electronic gear she can find, read, watch whatever she enjoys the most. Don't underestimate the idea that maybe she likes being alone too.
