Rockford, IL | If you feel prices are going lower you can lock in your 2015 spring prices at about $4.20 for corn and $9.70 for soybeans using crop insurance private products. After the cost of buying them today you are probably looking at a price maybe $.05-$.10 above current futures prices but you also have bushel protection as this is a way to up your revenue guarantee. Maybe a flip of the coin at those prices but if we end the week like this the markets are not looking good technically heading into the insurance discovery periods. There are other variations available out that could offer better price than these but you have to weigh the cost of them. Call your agent today and inquire.
