That "patina" effect is pretty popular now and I like it. I just used some Turtle brand rubbing compound and a lot of time and energy to clean up and bring out what shine was left in the paint on this old IH pickup. It actually had a repaint job around 1970 but in places it has worn through to the undercoat. I just put on a good coat of wax and keep it indoors when not in use. They do say clear coat is an option to protect the surface but I have not tried it.
