west central Iowa | I had a Formost auto catch and I took it off and sold it after about the third time a cow raised her head up and hit the release and let her self out. After I sold it I saw another brand that a simple guard over the latch that would have prevented the problem. Since I put a gate on the back end of my chute I have just as good luck catching them even by myself with a manual headgate. Auto headgates are also slower for me if working a big bunch of cattle it seemed like it always took longer to get a cow to stick her head thru the auto. I haven't tried one, but if I were going to buy a new one I would look hard at the Priefert that can be used manual or auto. | |
