| It's been cool, cloudy, and wet, so far here this spring. Cows are going in up to their dew claws in a lot of pastures. Just solided up the last couple of days and now it's raining hard again. What fertilizer that got on was late, and a lot of guys are cutting way back. Myself, and a couple other guys I know are currently grazing hayfields. Another neighbor just turned out on cornstalks this week. The grass just isn't growing. Here it is the 2nd of May, Fescue will try to head out in 2-3 weeks, and it's about 4 inches tall where it was grazed hard last year. I'll start a fast rotation this week, but I'm not sure there will be much to rotate back to in 2 or 3, plus, you're gonna have to expend diesel to clip fescue heads to try to keep production going as long as possible. I guess what I'm saying, is that this doesn't look like a very good start to our forage growing season here in MO.
