Yes, you have hydrogen sulfide in your water. Pretty common here too. If you can, the easiest way to get rid of it is to let it gas off. If it can sit in a vented tank for a day it will go away.
Several of my neighbors have >1,000 gal cistern tanks that the well feeds on a float and or timer. Jet pump on cistern feeds house. Most wells here are less than 5 gpm so kinda solves 2 problems. My well also has the rotten egg odor, a cistern tank system is on the list of projects.

Does your water stain red or blue?
