Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa

The first ornament to go on our tree each year is a tiny straw basket closed with a mesh bag at the top with a celluloid Santa face at the drawstring. Candy was originally in the basket/bag. It was a gift to my mother her 1st Christmas........1928.
I have several old glass ornaments from my grandmother, and the precious ones of clay and popsicle sticks and glitter our kids made when they were little. I'm a pretty sentimental person over the memories those old things hold for me. Our oldest son has the same affliction, and our younger son is the least sentimental person over objects/memories that I've ever known. So, I'm pretty sure who'll be claiming the Christmas ornaments when I'm too old to care about putting up a tree.
