Northern CA | When I used the preservative up to 28% moisture, it has been from a couple different ways. Once, the episode I was referring to above was in the fall when the hay, mainly grass with some alfalfa, that with the humidy in the air and moisture coming from the ground, we would roll the hay every early afternoon trying to dry it out some. From about 3:30-5:00, the hay was as dry as it would be. We baled it. The moisture probe ranged from 24-28%, with by the end of the session, most probes close to 28%, we quit. The hay kept fine.
