We use a shark steam mop on our hardwood floors and ceramic tiles. I've not noticed any sticky residue, but we are also careful to use hardwood cleaner that doesn't leave residue (bona). So I'm also in the camp of wondering if what you are experiencing isn't cleaning product residue....
